Saturday 7pm

Reception

15491 Road J, Cortez, CO 81321

Dinner will be catered by Free Range Foods. Chef Kourtney Morgan’s culinary style is defined by seasonal intuition, regional terroir, and a deep, tactile connection to the earth. Having spent 25 years as a senior apparel designer at Patagonia, she approaches food with the eyes of an artist and the hands of a craftsman, often referring to herself as a "garment farmer".

She views cooking as an ever-changing art form that flows entirely with natural cycles. She focuses closely on regional ingredients, building direct relationships with farmers, ranchers, and independent makers in the Four Corners area. Kourtney completed a significant chef-in-residence stint working alongside Regan at the Milkweed Inn, a remote, off-the-grid culinary retreat tucked deep inside Michigan's Hiawatha National Forest. Her work treats food as a physical, grounding medium, emphasizing handmade processes like wood-fired baking and open-fire sourdough leavening.

Kourtney worked closely under the mentorship of Michelin star Chef Lane Regan (formerly known as Iliana Regan). Strongly influenced by her time in the Northwoods under this Michelin-starred mentorship, she excels at integrating foraged and wild elements into her bakes, such as her signature cornmeal porridge "Chef's loaf."

She leans into building intense depth of flavor through foundational techniques—relying on the natural sugars of grains, the char of wood smoke, and wild microflora rather than overly complicated manipulations.
